RISE & SHINE BASKETBALL F.A.Q.
Q: Who can participate?
A: Camp is for boys and girls entering grades 1-10. Through the use of Zoom 'Breakout Rooms' players will be grouped by age / skill level. So essentially there will be several smaller virtual activities going on which are all age appropriate. There will also be multiple grade divisions for all contests and competitions.
Q: How will the virtual camp work?
A: Camp will include skill stations like at a typical day camp. With the use of the of the Zoom app, there will be multiple coaches providing instruction through drills while giving feedback to the players. The stations will be quick, fast paced, and fun!
Q: Is Rise & Shine Camp just skill stations?
A: Nope! There will also be daily competitions and contests for prizes, charting progress, as well as other surprises in the works to make this an engaging and FUN Summer program.
Q: What is the cost for the program?
A: The cost for everything (all workouts, private lesson, workout shirt) is $240. The cost per family is $450 (immediately family members who live in the same household only). Individual weeks are $55 per week. Credits from Elevation Spring programs can be used for this program.
Q: Who are the coaches?
A: Coach K will lead most workouts and he will be assisted by members of the Elevation staff, including coaches who have worked camps, clinics and AAU for several years. Lexington Boys Varsity coach, Reggie Hobbs, will also be providing instruction and leading some workouts. Staff bio's are available HERE.
Q: What if my child can't make the scheduled workouts?
A: Not a problem! Rise & Shine Camp will be recorded and emailed out later that day.
Q: How will the 30 minute private lessons with Coach K and Coach Hobbs work?
A: This will depend on what the state policy is at the given time regarding social distancing. The lesson will either take place in person (and with appropriate social distancing) or via Zoom. Regardless it will be a LIVE instructional session.
Q: What do we do if we don't have a hoop in our driveway?
A: Not a problem! Some skill stations will not require a basket, and for those that do, we can adjust the workout accordingly. Basketball is about a lot more than just shooting, and we will make it worthwhile and engaging for all players, with and without baskets!
Q: What if we wake up and it's 'Rise & Raining' instead of 'Rise and Shining'?
A: All postponed camp days will be re-scheduled for 8am the very next day and again later that day will be posted on-line.
Q: We don't know our summer schedule yet. What if we go away on vacation?
A: Rise & Shine workouts can take place anywhere and at any time. Just log-in from wherever you are and get to work!
Q: What else will my child need?
A: At every workout, players will need two basketballs. In addition, players should have orange cones (or suitable substitutes: trash can, pair of old sneakers, etc) and a water bottle. They will also need a device (smartphone, tablet, laptop) to watch and participate in the workouts.
